The
prelude to the creation of this piece
„Flowers of silence“ is the chanson from
Brel: ‚Les vieux (the aged). Two old
characters, Medea and Simion, arrive to give
a final hommage to a beloved one. The
intrigue is mixed with death, ritual and
sacrifice. The masks magnify a theme: an
estranged world falling into our own modern
world.
This
piece has been inspired by the ancient
mysteries as well different types of paegen
ceremonies.
The
masks have been constructed by Judith
Mähler in Berlin. They are based upon
the world of animals (a monkey and an owl).
The
piece is predominantly non-verbal.
